The 4th RCMMc Club Meeting held last July 22, 2009 started with the sharing of experiences of members on the various club and district activities they have attended the past few weeks:
PP Ces and IPP Bing both attended the 1st District 3830 Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) Training Seminar, where over 50 past presidents participated. It is a 2-day seminar that taught all attendees how to properly facilitate group discussion and conduct trainings as effective trainors. According to IPP Bing, the seminar was a great and thoroughly enjoyable learning experience.
- President Mike and other attendees shared how the Joint Meeting last July 9 went. All present served as witness to the signing of Sisterhood with Rotary Club Downtown Pasay.
- President Mike discussed the club’s participation in the on-going Vocational Roadshow Seminar where Dale Carnegie CEO and PP Doodz Policarpio shares his expertise in a series of talks. Already 3 such seminars were completed, with Pres. Mike being the Emcee in the 3rd Seminar held last July 21. Pres. Mike expressed his gratitude to all those that have attended and hoped for support through attendance from members in future installment of the Vocational Roadshow.
- IPP Bing and PE Ronnie attended the Barangay Justice System and Procedures Seminar last July 11, with speakers Atty. Ruben Aldea, Judge Nimpha Vilches, Justice Oswald Agacaoili. The seminar was attended by 400 representatives from 16 Barangays in Parañaque City.
- IPP Bing attended last July 18, the launching of the Gilda Lim Foundation Project Assistance where 1 million pesos was given to District 3830.
The sharing was subsequently followed by discussion of the club’s upcoming projects and events:
- RCMMc Lead Hosts 1st Vocational Tour Caravan at Lufthansa Technik Phils on July 23. Pres. Mike reported that this will be attended by himself, PP Ces and Baby Rtn. Rico.
- Rtn. Melvie shared that the first Editorial Board Meeting for The Acacia was held last July 20. This meeting, spearheaded by IPP Bing, tackled the issues surrounding the production of the newsletter (cost of printing, point person), delegation of tasks, and content contribution. The issue of printing was settled when Rtn. Jean volunteered to do the final printing and reproduction. The Acacia this year will be spearheaded by Rtn. Melvie and Baby Rtn. Liza, under the guidance of IPP Bing.
- Pres. Mike announced that Rtn. Rico is currently developing the new club website: www.rcmcckinley.org. Rtn. Rico wants the new website to have ease of use and where members can upload, edit information using their password. Rtn. Rico then asked members if they have any suggestions for the website. Some suggestions mentioned include the District song playing in the background, a picture repository, schedule of district and club events, list of club projects, members profile page, etc. Rtn. Rico also announced that he sent everybody an invite to the yahoo group of the club and requested everyone to please respond and confirm the invitation to gain access to the yahoo group.
- The formation of Rotaract/Interact clubs was also discussed. Since the club will be co-hosting the Rotaract/Interact Assembly in August it becomes imperative to address the issue of forming a Rotaract. It was suggested that past experience show that it will best to have this community-based. Rtn. Jean shared that she has been in contact with Mapua Institute of Technology (MIT) for the possible formation of Rotaract in their school. Rtn. Jean is in the process of composing a Letter of Intent to start a Rotaract club targeting Accounting and IT students of MIT. She received advice from members on how to go about this process. Rtn. Jean will be meeting Mr. Niel, the head of student affairs of MIT, to discuss Rotaract in their school.
- There was a discussion about the creation of club projects for the year, the financing of such projects, and the availment of grants to be matched by our sister club in Brunei. Pres. Mike reiterated that although there are many ideas on future club projects, the members must bear in mind that there are financial restrictions. However, everyone expressed hope that perhaps we could find a suitable project and funding resources for the year. IPP Bing suggested to pursue a certain project that involves the environment/water project.
- Treas. Jane and Pres. Mike announced that the deadline for the Php 1,000 discount on club dues is due on July 31.
Pres. Mike and Treas. Jane distributed the Boy Scout of the Philippines tickets to attending members. Pres. Mike announced that this is a fund-raising project for the club. RCMMc will receive 50% of the ticketprice. Each club member will receive 5 booklets equivalent to Php1,000 each. Pres. Mike announced that there will be incentives for those who sell more than the allotted Php1,000.
